How Big Is the GTA 6 Map? Size vs GTA 5 and RDR2
Rockstar has called the GTA 6 map of Leonida 'the largest open world we have ever built.' Estimates and datamines suggest a playable area roughly twice the size of GTA V's San Andreas.
Estimated playable area
Datamine estimates put Leonida at 75-90 square kilometers of playable land, plus a substantial offshore Keys region. GTA V's San Andreas measured roughly 49 square kilometers. RDR2 measured around 76 square kilometers.
Density matters more than size
Rockstar's pitch is that Vice City alone will have more detail than the entire GTA V map. Density of interiors, NPCs and interactive systems is what makes the Leonida map feel huge.
Six biomes in one map
Coastal city, beach resort islands, swampland, mountain wilderness, industrial port, inland small towns — six distinct biomes give Leonida unmatched variety compared to past Rockstar maps.
Underwater and aerial space
Underwater diving is confirmed (Leonida Keys). Open airspace allows planes and helicopters across the full state. Underground subway tunnels in Vice City are heavily rumored.
