GTA 6 Gameplay: Every Confirmed Feature and System

Jun 22, 2026·5 min read

Rockstar has confirmed (officially and through Trailer 2) a wide range of gameplay systems for Grand Theft Auto VI. Here is the full list of everything verified or strongly hinted so far.

Core gameplay loop

Dual-protagonist with on-the-fly character swaps. Heists, missions, side activities, and an expanded version of the GTA Online economy expected to launch post-release.

Combat and stealth

Stealth approaches confirmed, with improved enemy line-of-sight detection. Combat retains the cover-based shooting from GTA V, with a refined hit-reaction system and tighter aim assist tuning.

Movement and traversal

Swimming, diving, climbing, sliding, vehicle stunts. Parkour-style movement has been hinted in datamines. Airboats, motorcycles, jet skis, helicopters and planes all confirmed.

AI and pedestrian density

Rockstar promises 'the most complex pedestrian AI ever in a Rockstar game' — NPCs react to crowds, follow daily routines, and respond to player behavior in nuanced ways.

Frequently asked

Will GTA 6 have first-person mode?
Highly likely. GTA V added first-person on PS4/Xbox One, and Rockstar has continued to support it. Official confirmation is pending.
Can you swim and dive in GTA 6?
Yes — swimming and diving are confirmed gameplay systems, especially in the Leonida Keys.
